Soprano Saxophone
Thyme Shi
Thyme Shi is an active performer and educator currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Saxophone Performance at the University of British Columbia. Originally hailing from Calgary, Alberta, she has performed in venues across Western Canada and in masterclasses for Claude Delangle (Paris Conservatory), Jennifer Bill (Boston University), and Wallace Halladay (University of Toronto). Thyme is currently focusing on her solo and chamber music career, particularly her recitals, in which she aims to highlight works by living composers. After her undergraduate degree, she hopes to pursue graduate schooling and continue showcasing the versatility and beauty of the saxophone. Thyme's primary teachers include Julia Nolan, Holly DeCaigny, and Jeremy Brown.

Sunny Wu
Sunny Wu is a second-year student at the University of British Columbia, where he is dedicated to pursuing his Bachelor of Saxophone Performance under the guidance of Dr. Julia Nolan. His musical journey has been marked by notable achievements, including the distinguished honor of participating in renowned high school honor ensembles such as BCMEA Honors Wind Ensemble and the Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra. In addition to his ensemble experiences, Sunny has showcased his musical prowess through participation in local music competitions, notably excelling in events such as Kiwanis and the Canadian Music Competition. Sunny's commitment to musical excellence and his participation in prestigious ensembles underscore his passion and talent in the field of saxophone performance. Sunny has just been named the winner of the 2025 UBC Concerto Competition.

Sean Krause
Sean Krause is a third-year student at the University of British Columbia, where he is pursuing his Bachelor of Music in Saxophone under Dr. Julia Nolan. He was born and raised in the fields of Chilliwack. Formerly studied Oboe under Marea Chernoff, he took that passion for Baroque and Romantic music into his saxophone performance. Sean hopes to use his degree to enter the field of instrument repair.

Emma Porter
Emma Porter is an active performer finishing her Bachelor of Music in Saxophone at the University of British Columbia. Originally from New Brunswick, she has performed across Canada as well as parts of Europe. Throughout her degree, Emma is committed to sharing her love of saxophone through performances and competitions; most notably in her chamber ensembles. Emma has worked with many ensembles in the lower mainland, including 15th Field and other military bands. She performed with the World Youth Wind Ensemble in Schladming, Austria for two consecutive years. Emma has studied saxophone with Dr. Julia Nolan, and plans to take her music degree into administration and education; heading into a graduate degree in the future.
